COACHES REPORT - ROUND 1

What a superb weekend to kick off ROUND 1 of season 2025 at Anniversary Park in Rockingham hosted by another great club by association, the RAMS.

The Supers would kick off first in some pretty hot conditions against a tough and battle ready Mako's who were match fit and ready to run. The Saints showed equal skill and dash with some brilliance coming out of the midfield along with run off the wing. The Saints defence continued to retaliate and hold up a backline that at times appeared under siege.

The overall brand of footy was tough and maintained at a reasonably hectic pace considering the hot conditions, however the Makos were simply to strong at covering the field and running the ball in numbers. Losing Lethal with a rolled ankle added more salt to already open wounds, however in true SAINTS style the lads battled on, ending on high spirits.

It was great to see one of the Murray boys (Dan) back on the field in the Saints Gurnsey after a spell away from the club. Great to have you back Dan and we look forward to that run you can provide off the wing.

The Masters, with several new faces, would face off against one of the fittest and well drilled teams in the competition to start the season, but this was no deterrent. Over the years, the Saints have faced hard competitors with the skills and fitness of the BEARS, but every time the SAINTS would throw down and mount a challenge as best they could. Sunday was no different. Although out done by a well drilled BEARS outfit, The SAINTS can hold our heads high that we gave it everything we had to see the game out.

One stand out player for the game was BITS, who as we all know tends to steal the show with something special each week. This week would be no different. With a kick forward from Muffy late in the 4th quarter into 20m of space, BITS began his run from 15m out towards an open goal, only to spray it off the side of the boot for one behind. All we wanted was just one goal. Nice work BITS. Another stellar performance from BITS in his moment of selfish glory.

As editor of this page i have had to decipher a few strange messages sent to me by committee members. Take a moment to entertain yourselves and read the Whatsapp group message sent by our Masters coach after the game on Sunday. If you can decipher wha

t "Singer" is trying to say in that message you are a bloody legend and deserve to win Chase the Ace on Wednesday night.

GO the MIGHTY SAINTS
